Keyless Remotes

Over 90% of all new cars are now supplied with a remote control to unlock the doors and turn off the alarm. Very convenient, but not without their problems.

Some use infrared but most use a radio transmitter to send a coded signal to a receiver in the car.

The remote keyless entry system allows the driver to enter the vehicle without inserting a key into a door. When the driver pushes a button on a key, the key emits an identification code using radio waves (300 to 400 MHz) to the vehicle. The vehicle then compares the identification code to the vehicle’s code, and locks or unlocks doors if the two codes match.

Automobile keys can have many other function buttons, for example, to open the trunk or activate the vehicle’s security system (panic button).

In 1984, the world’s first radio-wave type keyless entry system that used radio wave instead of infrared ray for communications was introduced by DENSO Technology – Leading the World.

DENSO supplies various keys and vehicle-side receivers for remote keyless entry systems, which are used in more than 100 countries.

It's not just security within the car that is important. Car security is so sophisticated now that most thieves need to steal your keys and remotes to get the car working .Therefore, make sure you car keys and remotes are in a place such as a hidden safe. It is important not to make their 'job' easy as most thieves are opportunist and will give up after a short time, but at the same time remember your life is more important than a car.
